Hamish​ ​McGregor​​ - Programme Director

Hamish​ ​McGregor​ ​is​ ​in​ ​big​ ​demand​ ​across​ ​the​ ​country.​ ​We​ ​were​ ​extremely fortunate​ ​to​ ​secure​ ​his​ ​commitment​ ​to​ ​the​ ​Director’s​ ​role​ ​for​ ​our​ ​January Emerging​ ​Talent​ ​School​ ​to​ ​be​ ​held​ ​in​ ​Auckland​ ​from​ ​14​ ​–​ ​22​ ​January​ ​2017.

Hamish​ ​offers​ ​students​ ​lucky​ ​enough​ ​to​ ​attend​ ​next​ ​year’s​ ​ETS​ ​so​ ​many positives​ ​–​ ​not​ ​only​ ​is​ ​he​ ​an​ ​extremely​ ​talented​ ​musical​ ​theatre​ ​director​ ​and actor​ ​with​ ​extensive​ experience​ ​in​ ​both​ ​capacities​, he is​ ​also​ ​a​ ​qualified​ ​school teacher.​ ​Hamish​ ​is​​​ ​extremely​ ​well​ ​connected​ ​and​ ​respected,​ ​not​ ​just​ ​in theatre​ ​but​ ​also​ ​in​ ​the​ ​international​ ​education​ ​sector​ ​having​ ​also​ ​taught​ ​in China​ ​and​ ​South​ ​Korea.

McGregor​ ​recently​ ​directed​ ​​A​ ​Funny​ ​Thing​ ​Happened​ ​on​ ​the​ ​Way​ ​to​ ​the Forum​​ ​in​ ​Auckland​ ​and​ ​is​ ​currently​ ​directing​ ​​Avenue​ ​Q​​ ​in​ ​Gore.

Earlier​ ​this​ ​year,​ ​McGregor​ ​co-wrote​ ​and​ ​directed​ ​with​ ​Naomi​ ​Cohen, Hungover​ ​-​ ​a​ ​Musical​ ​Comedy​,​ ​a​ ​show​ ​that​ ​enjoyed​ ​a​ ​close​ ​to​ ​sell-out​ ​season at​ ​the​ ​Basement​ ​Theatre​ ​in​ ​Auckland.​ ​At​ ​the​ ​same​ ​time​ ​Hamish​ ​was co-directing​ ​​The​ ​Wizard​ ​of​ ​Oz​​ ​for​ ​ACG​ ​Parnell​ ​College.

Hamish’s​ ​performance​ ​credits​ ​include​ ​​Les​ ​Miserables​,​ ​​Oliver​,​ ​​My​ ​Fair​ ​Lady​The​ ​25​th Annual​ ​Putnam​ ​County​ ​Spelling​ ​Bee,​ ​​Honk​​ ​and​ ​​Mamma​ ​Mia​.

In​ ​2014​ ​he​ ​was​ ​awarded​ ​a​ ​NAPTA​ ​for​ ​“Best​ ​Set​ ​Design”​ ​and​ ​“Best​ ​Direction​ ​of a​ ​Musical”.
